NEW DELHI: An Indian man was arrested in the United States on charges of CSAM, child sexual assault material, commonly known as child porn.The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Seattle on Friday said that Gurjeet Singh Malhi, 42, was arrested on July 11 during a joint federal law enforcement action in Washington. The arrest sparked political controversy in Punjab after images emerged on social media platforms showing Malhi with various political figures. Both BJP and Congress representatives have circulated photographs showing Malhi’s association with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members.Social media platforms are circulating photographs of Malhi, who works as a property dealer and investor, with various political figures.Congress representative Sukhpal Singh Khaira raised questions on Facebook, seeking clarification from Bhagwant Mann: “What is the connection of his family with a shameful criminal like NRI Gurjeet Malhi…”Khaira further stated: “Other leaders of AAP like speaker Kultar Sandhwan, finance minister Harpal Cheema etc, should explain what is the connection of these leaders with such despicable criminals.”Evidence shows Malhi photographed with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal.The BJP’s Chandigarh division questioned AAP’s involvement, stating: “When will AAP’s so-called ‘revolutionaries’ answer these serious questions?”” Their post included multiple images showing Malhi with Mann’s family members. The Aam Aadmi Party has not yet issued any statement regarding this matter.
