BAREILLY: Upset over not getting Rs 2 lakh cash and a car as dowry, a man held his eight-month-old son upside down by the legs and marched across the village while swinging the boy all along. A video of the act was widely circulated on social media. The incident took place on July 19 in a village under Azeem Nagar, Rampur. Though no complaint was filed, police on Thursday filed a case against the man for disturbing public peace.“Legal action has been taken against the accused father,” said Rampur SP Vidyasagar Mishra. “We appeal to the public not to torture children over disputes among adults.”Police said the incident stemmed from a marital dispute between a couple who got married in Nov 2023. The wife alleged that her husband was demanding Rs 2 lakh in cash as dowry, along with a new car, said police. On July 19, there was a meeting between both families to sort out the matter. When there was no consensus on the matter, the man took his anger out on his own son.
