UP horror: Hospital staff sedates patient and rapes her during night shift; arrested | Lucknow News
LUCKNOW: A hospital staff accused of raping a woman patient after sedating her at a private hospital in Pachpedwa of Balrampur district was arrested within 48 hours of the crime, police said on Sunday.The accused, Yogesh Pandey, a resident of Madhyanagar, Bhaisahwa under Pachpedwa police station, was arrested near Bhathar bridge following a tip-off.According to police, the incident took place on the night of July 25 when the woman, a local resident, was admitted to the private hospital for treatment. Around 4 am, Yogesh, working as nursing staff, allegedly injected her with a sedative, rendering her unconscious, and then raped her.The survivor regained consciousness during the assault and raised an alarm, following which the accused fled.A case was registered under sections 64(2)e and 123 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway under SP Vikas Kumar’s supervision.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
