Two Indian-origin women die in UAE: Ritual fire claims woman’s life; Kerala mother, toddler found dead amid abuse allegations

A 46-year-old Indian-origin woman died after a fire broke out in her apartment in Sharjah’s Al Majaz area on Thursday night, ANI reported, quoting Gulf News.Authorities said the woman was reportedly performing a special ritual inside her home when the blaze erupted.The fire originated in a unit on the eighth floor of an 11-storey residential building. Officials have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident. The woman’s body has been shifted to the forensic laboratory for autopsy.

Kerala woman and toddler daughter found dead in suspected murder-suicide

In a separate incident, a 33-year-old woman from Kerala and her toddler daughter were found dead in their apartment in Sharjah’s Al Nahda neighbourhood on July 8, ANI reported citing Khaleej Times.Originally from Kollam, the woman had moved to the UAE two years ago with her husband. However, she had been living separately for several months due to ongoing family disputes.According to a Gulf News report, the child died due to “airway obstruction, possibly by a pillow.” The woman was found hanging in the apartment, and her death was confirmed as suicide.A handwritten note in Malayalam, believed to have been written by the woman, indicated emotional distress and mentioned allegations of abuse, a social worker told Khaleej Times.The case is currently under investigation by Al Buhairah Police Station.
