Tinder match, suitcase murder and now wedding: Convicted killer Priya Seth ties knot | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Overwhelming media and public scrutiny on the marriage of two murder convicts currently out on parole from the city’s Sanganer Open Jail forced the couple to change their wedding venue at the last minute from Barodameo town of Alwar district.Priya Seth (34) and Hanuman Prasad (29) tied the knot at an undisclosed location Friday, the couple’s lawyer confirmed to TOI. The change of plans was forced when the couple’s wedding card, containing Prasad’s contact number, went viral on social media. His home in Barodameo town, all decked up with decorative flowers and lights for the proposed ceremony, bore a deserted look after the change of venue, triggering speculation over whether the marriage was postponed. Dismissing rumours, the couple’s lawyer Vishram Prajapat confirmed that the wedding had gone ahead as planned, albeit at a different venue. “I spoke to both of them in the evening; they said they had shifted the venue but are definitely getting married today,” he said.“We are happy our son is finally getting married”, said Prasad’s mother, Chandra Kala, speaking from the family home in Alwar.Despite these clarifications, there was no immediate confirmation about where the marriage was eventually solemnised, with some reports insisting the venue had been shifted to Jaipur, while others suggested it was held “somewhere in Alwar”. Local police said the bride and groom left the Barodameo town early in the morning, but were unable to confirm whether the ceremony was held. “All we know is that a bus left the house in the morning,” a police officer said.Sources at the Sanganer Open Jail said Prasad and Seth began seeing each other soon after they were shifted to the facility. After being granted parole recently, the couple informed a small circle of inmates about the wedding, the sources added.Seth was convicted in the 2018 Jaipur murder of a man she met on a dating app, while Prasad was convicted in a 2017 case for killing a man, his 3 sons, and a nephew in Alwary after developing a relationship with the man’s wife. Both were convicted in 2023 and sentenced to life imprisonment.Weddings between convicts are not uncommon at the prison, with jail officials confirming at least four such ceremonies at the open jail over the past five years.Seth kingpin of a high-profile blackmail racket and accused of murdering a businessman with the help of her boyfriend and a friend targeted wealthy men through multiple online dating platforms. Investigators found that Seth maintained profiles on more than a dozen dating apps and also operated her own website. According to police, Seth deliberately targeted men with money and social standing, exploiting their fear of public embarrassment to extort them. During interrogation, she told police that she first came in contact with Sharma through the dating app Tinder.
