Suspected fuel leak: IndiGo Kolkata-Srinagar fight diverts safely to Varanasi

NEW DELHI: An IndiGo Airbus 320neo (VT-ITR) operating as 6E-6961 from Kolkata to Srinagar on Wednesday diverted to Varanasi after the crew suspected a fuel leak. The pilots sought priority landing at Varanasi, where they safely touched down at 4.06 pm, say officials. The aircraft is grounded there for checks, they add. Comments have been sought from IndiGo and are awaited.The aircraft had taken off from Kolkata at 2.45 pm for Srinagar with 166 people on board. During cruise a while later, the pilots saw the fuel level fluctuate and suspecting leakage they decided to divert to Varanasi.Sources say initial checks on ground have not revealed any fuel leak and the issue may have been due to sensor malfunction
