Supriya claims 14,000 men got Ladki Bahin scheme benefits, demands CBI probe | Pune News

PUNE: NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule on Saturday claimed that about 14,000 men got benefits under the Mukhyamantri Mazhi Ladki Bahin scheme and demanded a CBI probe into it, while deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said funds would be recovered from such beneficiaries, if found.Citing some reports, Supriya said nearly 14,000 men were found in the list of beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin scheme introduced in August 2024, and nearly Rs21 crore was disbursed to them. Interacting with reporters in Pune, Supriya demanded a CBI probe to find out who enrolled these men for the scheme. “The government initiates CBI or ED probe even in smaller allegations. It should now announce a CBI probe to find out the contractor, who enrolled these men for the scheme.”Reacting to the issue, Ajit Pawar, who also holds the finance portfolio, said, “There is no reason to include any man among the beneficiaries. If there are such men, we will recover the amount they received so far. If they do not cooperate, we will have to take strict action against them.” He said, “The Ladki Bahin scheme is exclusively for women from the economically weaker section. During the scrutiny of beneficiaries of the scheme, some women were found getting money through the scheme despite having jobs. Their names have been removed.”State women and child development minister Aditi Tatkare posted a message on her X handle on Saturday night mentioning that the IT department’s data showed 26.34 lakh beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin scheme were not eligible for it. “In some cases, men had also applied. The benefits of all these beneficiaries have been temporarily suspended. Based on district collectors’ reports, benefits of the eligible people would be resumed,” Tatkare wrote.
