‘Son of Sardaar 2’ box office collection Day 5: Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur starrer sees steady growth; matches ‘Saiyaara’ collections on Tuesday |
‘Son of Sardaar 2’ continued its steady run at the Indian box office on Tuesday, Day 5, showing modest growth despite competition from multiple releases. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the Ajay Devgn-starrer earned approximately Rs 2.50 crore on its fifth day, pushing the film’s total domestic collection to around Rs 29.60 crore. The film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 22.08% on Tuesday, with night shows drawing the highest footfalls at around 38%, indicating sustained interest from audiences. ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ had a promising start at the box office, earning Rs 7.25 crore on its opening day. The momentum continued into the weekend, with the film collecting Rs 8.25 crore on Day 2 and Rs 9.25 crore on Day 3, taking its first weekend total to Rs 24.75 crore nett. However, the film witnessed a sharp decline on its first Monday, earning just Rs 2.35 crore.The film has managed to hold its ground even in the face of fresh competition from ‘Dhadak 2’, which earned Rs 1.60 crore on the same day. Interestingly, ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ matched its Day 5 earnings with the ongoing box office hit ‘Saiyaara’, which also brought in Rs 2.50 crore on Tuesday, Day 19.However, it was the animated film, ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ that continued to dominate the box office, pulling in an estimated Rs 7.75 crore on Day 12, putting it in a league of its own.Featuring an ensemble cast including Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Chunky Pandey, Kubbra Sait, Vindu Dara Singh, Mukul Dev, and Ashwini Kalsekar alongside Devgn, the film comes 13 years after the release of ‘Son of Sardaar’, which was one of the highest-grossing films of Devgn’s career. The film still ranks as the 10th highest earner in his filmography. Meanwhile, for lead actress Mrunal, the film is already her third-highest earning film, only behind ‘Batla House’ and ‘Super 30’.With consistent weekday numbers and solid word of mouth, Son of Sardaar 2 is expected to maintain momentum heading into the second weekend.
