RAICHUR: A dramatic rescue unfolded near Garjapur in Raichur taluk when locals sprang into action to save a man who fell from a bridge into the Krishna River. After being pulled to safety, the man allleged that his wife had intentionally pushed him into the river.The newly-married couple, Sooraj from Shaktinagar in Raichur, and Neethu from Wadagera (names changed) in Yadgir district, had stopped on the bridge to click photos.
Sooraj said after taking his wife’s photographs, he requested her to take his pictures. As he positioned himself at the end of the bridge, his wife pushed him into the river while pretending to take his photo, according to him.The Krishna River experienced high water levels due to increased discharge, sweeping Sooraj away. He managed to cling to rocks in the middle of the river and called out for help. Nearby residents, passersby and fishermen came to his rescue. They conducted a rescue operation using ropes for two hours to bring him to safety. Following this, Sooraj accused Neethu of deliberately pushing him into the river. However, she denied these accusations.Subsequently, the couple engaged in a brief disagreement before departing together on a motorcycle. No official complaint was filed in connection with the incident. One of the bystanders captured the rescue operation on video and shared it on social media, where it gained traction.
