BENGALURU: A 20-year-old youth allegedly murdered his 22-year-old wife, who was three months’ pregnant and fled the spot. Her decomposed body was found Wednesday afternoon after neighbours alerted police of foul smell emanating from the house.Police suspect Shivam, who works as painter, and from Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, killed Sumana two days prior. Sources said they were in love for five years and they tied the knot against their parents’ wishes six months ago. They had been staying in the city for the last five months. Police said there was bleeding from Sumana’s nose, but no other injuries were found. They found liquor tetra packs in the house, along with some leftover food. Shivam, who had fled the house when he realised she’s dead, was nabbed Thursday afternoon. Suspecting infidelity, Shivam used to pick up fights with her over petty issues, police said. On Monday night, he fought with her and assaulted her. Later, both slept in separate rooms. On Tuesday morning, he tried to wake her up. When she didn’t respond, he prepared food, ate it, and left for work. He returned in the night, consumed alcohol, and ate food. On Wednesday morning, he again tried to wake her up and found her dead, police added.
