BAREILLY: The body of a 31-year-old woman was found stuffed in a red suitcase at her home in Shahjahanpur on Sunday. Police have detained her 35-year-old husband for questioning.Ashok Kumar, a bank recovery agent from Tilhar town, told police that he returned late Saturday night from a wedding to find the door locked from inside. After breaking the latch, he managed to enter and found his wife, Savita Devi, hanging from a ceiling fan. Out of fear, he allegedly removed the body and placed it in a suitcase. His mother and three minor children were asleep in another room at the time, Kumar said in his statement to the police.Ashok said that he then called his brother, Anil Kumar, who lives in Bareilly. The suitcase remained in the house overnight. On Sunday morning, Anil alerted police via dial 112.Circle officer Tilhar Jyoti Yadav, a forensic team and other police personnel visited the house and questioned the husband, who also told investigators that Savita had a history of mental illness.Senior superintendent of police Rajesh Dwivedi said, “While the family claims it was a suicide, the circumstances surrounding the incident raise questions.
