Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’ has been the surprise romantic blockbuster of the year. Starring fresh faces Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the musical love story struck a chord with audiences right from its opening day. The film entered the Rs 300 crore club in India within weeks and has stayed strong ever since. But in its third week, the numbers are finally showing signs of slowing down.Saiyaara Movie Review

A roaring start that won hearts

From its very first day, ‘Saiyaara’ grabbed attention. Packed with soulful music, heartfelt moments and crackling chemistry between the lead pair, the film drew in huge crowds. For weeks, it dominated the box office, even against other big releases.

Day 20: Collections take a dip

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, ‘Saiyaara’ earned Rs 2 crore on its 20th day in cinemas, which was its third Wednesday. This brings the film’s total collection to Rs 306.6 crore in India. A day earlier, on its third Tuesday, it collected Rs 2.50 crore, a slight rise from its third Monday’s Rs 2.35 crore. But the drop on Day 20 shows that the film is now entering its natural decline phase after a stellar run.

Holding strong against the competition

Despite the slowdown, ‘Saiyaara’ is still holding its own against new releases. On the same Wednesday, ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur earned Rs 2.75 crore, taking its total to Rs 29.85 crore. Meanwhile, ‘Dhadak 2’, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, managed Rs 1 crore, bringing its total to Rs 15.40 crore. Even with these new films in theatres, ‘Saiyaara’ continues to draw in steady numbers.

A Rs 500 crore worldwide milestone

Beyond its India collections, ‘Saiyaara’ has also crossed Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office. The makers celebrated this huge feat with an official Instagram post, writing, “Saiyaara found a home in your hearts – and we couldn’t be more thankful.”

Closing in on North America’s top spot

By 3rd August, ‘Saiyaara’ had become the second highest‑grossing Bollywood film of the year in North America, only behind ‘Chhaava’, led by Vicky Kaushal. While ‘Chhaava’ stands at about USD 6.4 million, ‘Saiyaara’ has reached USD 5.1 million. Whether it overtakes the top spot will depend on how long it keeps its screens.

Limited time before ‘War 2’ release

The film’s journey isn’t over yet, but the clock is ticking. ‘War 2’, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, hits screens on 14th August. Once it arrives, ‘Saiyaara’ will face tough competition for audience attention. Until then, it has one final weekend to make the most of its clean run.

A debut worth remembering

For Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, ‘Saiyaara’ has been the dream launch, a film that not only introduced them to audiences but also placed them among the year’s biggest box office successes. Mohit Suri’s direction and the film’s music have played a big role in its massive appeal.
