Olympian Sift Kaur Samra secured both individual and team gold medals for India in the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions at the Asian Shooting Championships in Shymkent, Kazakhstan on Tuesday. She posted an impressive 459.2 in the final to claim individual gold and led the Indian team to victory with a combined score of 1753 points.Samra outperformed China’s Yang Yujie, who scored 458.8 to take silver, while Japan’s Nobata Misaki claimed bronze with 448.2 points. The world record holder dominated the event from the start, qualifying first with a score of 589.In the individual final, Samra displayed exceptional performance with scores of 151.0 and 156.2 in kneeling and prone positions respectively. She maintained her lead through the standing-elimination round despite a late challenge from her Chinese competitor.The Indian team of Samra, Anjum Moudgil, and Ashi Chouksey clinched team gold ahead of Japan (1750) and South Korea (1745). Samra contributed 589, Chouksey added 586, and Moudgil scored 578 to secure the victory.Chouksey, who qualified fourth for the individual final, finished seventh with 402.8 points. Two-time Olympian Anjum Moudgil placed 22nd in a competitive field of 41 shooters.Indian shooter Shriyanka Sadandi, despite topping the qualification round, could not compete for medals as she was participating for Ranking Points Only (RPO).This victory marked Samra’s fourth Asian Championships gold medal, showcasing her continued dominance in the sport.On Monday, National Games champion Neeru Dhanda won the women’s trap gold medal.
