The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory to help commuters avoid congestion during the Full Dress Rehearsal for the Republic Day parade. The rehearsal is scheduled for January 23 and will lead to multiple road restrictions across central Delhi from early morning until the exercise concludes, reported PTI.As per the advisory, vehicular movement on Kartavya Path between Vijay Chowk and India Gate will remain restricted during rehearsal hours. Several adjoining roads, including Raisina Road, Janpath, C-Hexagon and nearby stretches, will also face traffic curbs. Authorities have advised commuters travelling between north and south Delhi to avoid central Delhi routes and instead use Ring Road, Outer Ring Road and other peripheral corridors to minimise delays. Heavy vehicles will face regulation on arterial roads leading towards Kartavya Path.While Delhi Metro services will operate as usual, entry and exit at certain stations close to the parade route may be regulated depending on security requirements. Commuters have also been advised to stay updated through official traffic police social media handles and helpline numbers for real-time information.
Meanwhile, the Gurugram Traffic Police has also issued an advisory regarding the entry of heavy vehicles into Delhi and Gurugram in view of the Republic Day function and the final rehearsal. According to officials, the entry of medium and heavy goods vehicles will remain prohibited from January 22, 5 pm, to January 23, 1:30 pm, and again from January 25, 5 pm, to January 26, 1:30 pm.Heavy vehicles approaching from the Jaipur side on NH-48 will be diverted at Pachgaon on the KMP Expressway. Vehicles from Gurugram’s local areas will be redirected via alternate routes at locations such as Hero Honda Chowk, Shankar Chowk, Mehrauli Border, Sohna, Pataudi and Farrukhnagar.
