Passenger bus with 18 people onboard plunges into Alaknanda river near Uttrakhand’s Gholtir on Badrinath Highway | Dehradun News

NEW DELHI: A passenger bus with 18 people onboard plunged into the Alaknanda river near Gholtir on the Badrinath Highway in Uttarakhand on Thursday, news agency PTI reported. Police Headquarters spokesperson IG Nilesh Anand Bharane stated, “A bus went out of control and fell into the Alaknanda river in the Gholthir area of Rudraprayag district. As per information received so far, 18 people were onboard the bus.”

Police forces and SDRF teams from Augustmuni, Ratura and Gochar police stations have reached the scene. A search and rescue operation is currently underway. According to initial information, there were around 18 passengers on board. Those who were seriously injured have been taken to a local hospital.
