Shahid Kapoor’s ‘O’Romeo’ trailer dropped Wednesday, blending Vishal Bhardwaj’s Mumbai Western with gore. He plays Haseen Ustara, falling for Triptii Dimri’s Afsha amid gang wars. Cast includes Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani. Fourth Shahid-Vishal collab. Releases Feb 13 vs ‘Tu Yaa Main’.

The trailer for Shahid Kapoor‘s ‘O’Romeo’ came out on Wednesday. It seems like Vishal Bhardwaj‘s version of a Western story set on Mumbai’s streets. Like many recent films, the 3-minute trailer uses lots of blood to shock viewers while introducing the characters.

‘O’Romeo’ cast

The trailer also shows Avinash Tiwary in what looks like a matador outfit, playing the villain. Disha Patani appears in a dance sequence, while Nana Patekar and Farida Jalal have the bigger roles. Vikrant Massey features in a blink-and-miss moment in the trailer, along with Tamannaah Bhatia.

O’Romeo Official Trailer | Sajid N | Vishal B | Shahid K | Triptii D | Nana P | Avinash T | 13th Feb

The trailer follows Haseen Ustara, played by Shahid Kapoor who is a fierce, tattoo-covered contract killer and gang leader. The plot centers on his relationship with Afsha, played by Triptii Dimri, a “damsel in distress” who initially seeks his help, leading to a dark, obsessive, and ultimately tragic love story. Beyond the romance, the film features Ustara caught between rival gangs and his own moral conflict.

‘O’Romeo’ collaboration history

This marks the fourth team-up between Shahid and Vishal, following ‘Kaminey’, ‘Haider’, and ‘Rangoon’. Rumors suggest the film draws from the story of Hussain Ustara in Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’.

Shahid Kapoor box office stakes

Meanwhile, ‘O’Romeo’ carries big expectations for Shahid Kapoor, who hasn’t seen a major box office hit in theaters since ‘Kabir Singh’ in 2019, which earned Rs 280 crore in India. Last year’s Deva, his only theatrical release, collected just Rs 34 crore lifetime, according to Sacnilk. The year before, ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ with Kriti Sanon made Rs 85 crore in its lifetime; his 2023 film ‘Bloody Daddy’ by Ali Abbas Zafar went straight to streaming, while 2022’s ‘Jersey’, delayed multiple times, barely earned Rs 21 crore in India.

‘O’Romeo’ release clash

‘O’Romeo’ hits theaters on February 13, clashing with Bejoy Nambiar’s ‘Tu Yaa Main’ starring Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav.
