KENDRAPADA: Four hockey trainers were detained by police in Jajpur district on Monday following allegations of gang-rape. A 15-year-old aspiring hockey player, who had been training at the centre for the past two years, filed an FIR on Sunday night, detailing her plight.According to the FIR, the incident occurred on the evening of July 3, after the conclusion of a coaching session at a local stadium. The survivor alleged that the accused, all in their 30s, took her to a lodge where they allegedly overpowered and gang-raped her. She was allegedly assaulted when she tried to resist the men and was threatened with physical harm if she disclosed the incident.Police swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the detention of the four trainers. A case has been registered under several sections of BNS including gang-rape. Additionally, charges have been filed under Section 6 of the Pocso Act, investigation officer Sarat Patra said.The survivor was present in court on Monday, where her statement was recorded.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
