Nora Fatehi: Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke Song Controversy: ‘Sarke Chunar’ song from ‘KD-The Devil’ removed after NHRC notice and legal complaints against obscene visuals, lyrics |
The high-octane promotional campaign for the pan-India spectacle KD: The Devil has hit a significant roadblock. The makers have officially removed the song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ and its Kannada version, ‘Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse’ from YouTube and other streaming platforms following intense legal pressure and a massive public outcry over its “obscene” content. In a latest development, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice regarding the matter. Let’s learn more about it in detail.
NHRC issues notice over the ‘Sarke Chunar’ song
According to ANI report, the controversy around the song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ intensified after an advocate and social activist, Vineet Jindal, filed a complaint with the Delhi Police’s cyber cell seeking strict action against everyone associated with the song. The complainant alleged that the song contains sexually suggestive and obscene lyrics unsuitable for public consumption. Jindal further demanded the song’s removal from platforms, as it would negatively influence young audiences. In the complaint, he also identified key contributors associated with the song, including lyricist Raqeeb Alam, director Prem, composer Arjun Janya, and singer Mangli.
The complainant stated that the publication and circulation of a track may attract penal provisions under Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act), and the Information Technology Act, 2000. Jindal has also filed a formal complaint with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Makers take down the song from all platforms
As per Moneycontrol report, the movie’s makers have taken down the song from YouTube. Several users tried to search for the track on the platform; however, the video showed as unavailable. The song was on YouTube until March 16, 2026. Meanwhile, the makers of ‘KD: The Devil’ have not reacted.
Celeb reactions to the song
Singer Armaan Malik slammed the song, calling the track a “new low” for songwriting. He wrote, “This showed up on my timeline, and I had to replay it just to make sure I heard it right. Sad to see commercial songwriting hit a new low.” Cricket legend Harbhajan Singh also took to his social media account to sternly oppose the song and called out Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt for choosing to be part of it.
