'Non-functioning AC and feeling strange': Victim’s last words to husband; she postponed her June 9 flight to 12th

AHMEDABAD: A family journey to the UK for a baby shower ended in tragedy for Yasmin Vora, 51, her nephew Pervez Vora, 30, and his 4-year-old daughter, Zuveriya. “Yasmin, originally scheduled to fly on June 9, extended her ticket to the 12th to travel with Pervez and Zuveriya, who were from Thasra,” said Yasin, Yasmin’s husband from Vadodara. Yasmin’s two sons, settled in London, were expecting the children, and she had planned a 5-6 month stay for their baby showers.Yasin dropped her off at the airport. “Just before takeoff, Yasmin called me, expressing anxiety about the non-functioning AC and a strange feeling, to which I had reassured her it would start,” he said. Shortly after, as Yasin drove about 50 km from Ahmedabad, he received a devastating call from relatives that the 1.10 pm London-bound flight had crashed. By 3 pm, a list confirmed the the tragic loss. “I drove back to the hospital and bodies of young doctors injured from the hostel were being brought in. “Young Zubeyra had underwent a dental treatment here,” said Yasin.Other family members outside the postmortem room included Pervez’s cousins Farooq and Sohail, who were there for identification.
