NCTE warns against fake news on 1-year B.Ed programme

NCTE B.Ed programme: The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued a public warning over the spread of unauthenticated news regarding the proposed one-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme. The regulatory body took to social media on June 19, 2025, to clarify that misleading reports are being circulated across certain news portals and social media platforms, creating confusion among stakeholders.NCTE urged the public, including students, parents, and teacher education institutions, to rely only on official communication for accurate information. The council stated that it has not authenticated or endorsed any such claims and advised everyone to disregard unofficial sources presenting speculative details about the 1-year B.Ed course.Unauthenticated news creating confusionAccording to NCTE’s official handle @NCTE_Official, several online platforms have recently published stories about a new 1-year B.Ed programme, prompting concern and uncertainty. These articles, the council confirmed, are not verified and do not reflect any formal decisions or policies of the NCTE.The tweet stated: “#NCTEFactCheck: Beware of unauthenticated #News regarding B.Ed. (1-Year) Programme.” It further added, “It has come to the notice of #NCTE that unauthenticated news articles & information regarding 1-year B.Ed teacher education programme, are being circulated in some news portals & social media.”NCTE urges use of official sources onlyIn its advisory, NCTE reminded stakeholders that it does not validate or verify such media reports. “All stakeholders are requested to always refer to the official website and social media handles of #NCTE,” the council said.NCTE encouraged the public to check updates through its official website, https://ncte.gov.in, or via its verified social media page at https://ncte.gov.in/website/SocialMedia/SocailMedia.html.Clarification aims to prevent misinformationThis clarification by NCTE appears aimed at curbing the spread of misinformation and preventing further public confusion.
