Mumbai coastal road crash: 18-year-old booked for rash driving; rams into Mercedes, woman injured | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: The Malabar Hill police booked an 18-year-old student who dashed his car into a Mercedes in which a a 33-year-old businesswoman was travelling with her husband. The accident took place in the Coastal Road tunnel on Sunday night. The complainant, a Bandra resident, suffered injuries, was taken to hospital, and was later discharged.Police booked Vyom Poddar, a Bhuleshwar resident, under sections 281 for rash driving or riding on a public way and 125(A) for an act endangering life or personal safety of others of the BNS.Police said that the accident took place at 10:50 pm near gate number 8, Coastal Road, northbound tunnel. A police source said the complainant woman, Sonam Bhabhani, who was pregnant, was sitting on rear seat with her husband while the driver was driving the car from Marine Drive to Prabhadevi on the Coastal Road. Poddar allegedly drove recklessly and crashed his car into the complainant’s car from behind. The woman sustained injuries to her leg, face, head, and back. She was taken to Breach Candy Hospital and given treatment. Later, she was discharged from the hospital.“The accused had a driving license,” added police. Investigators issued Poddar a notice asking him to join the investigation. Further probe is ongoing.
