MP horror: 32-year-old woman raped repeatedly on pretext of ‘exorcism’ in Rewa; accused arrested | Bhopal News
BHOPAL: A woman was allegedly raped and threatened in Rewa district under the pretext of exorcising her and then filmed by the accused. He raped her again under the same pretext and also threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed about it to anyone.The survivor, however, mustered the courage and informed her husband about her ordeal. They both reported the matter to the police on Friday night.
Baikunthpur police registered a case and arrested the accused on Saturday. “The 45-years-old accused is close relative of the survivor and lives near her house. Around three years ago, the survivor, who is now 32 years old, was not well. Her family members sent her to the accused, who took her to a distant place under the pretext of exorcising her and then raped her. She also alleged that the accused made a video of her; however, the video was not found by us, and he kept talking to her over the phone. On July 19, she was not well, and her family members sent her to the accused for exorcising. He took her to a room and raped her. This time, as per her complaint, she mustered the courage and narrated her ordeal to her husband and then reported the matter,” Baikunthpur police station incharge, J P Patel, told TOI.He added, “The accused has been arrested, and we are carrying out a detailed investigation.”(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
