PATNA: Appearing before a Patna court, RJD MLA from Danapur, Ritlal Yadav, on Wednesday sought euthanasia. “Sir, please grant me euthanasia. Cases after case is being filed against me,” he pleaded, crying in front of the judge, standing with folded hands for 45 minutes during the hearing.This came days after ADG (headquarters) Kundan Krishnan wrote to the additional chief secretary of education department, S Siddharth, for action against his wife Rinku Devi, a ‘niyojit’ teacher employed at Kothwa Mushari Vidyalaya in Patna district, for being a partner in a construction company while serving the Bihar govt.The MLA, currently lodged at Bhagalpur Camp Jail, further pleaded he be transferred to Beur Central Jail, Patna. “There is no one to plead for me here (Bhagalpur). I am fed up now,” he said.

Yadav was brought to Patna civil court under tight security from Bhagalpur, where his case was heard before an MP/MLA court of district and additional sessions judge-III-cum-special judge, Akshay Kumar Singh.The hearing was held in two cases — one related to money laundering and another extortion, registered at Khagaul police station. After the hearing, he was taken back to Bhagalpur jail. He will be brought back to Patna again for another hearing on Thursday. The police had appealed to the Beur jail administration to keep Yadav in their facility for two days, but the request was refused.Gangster-turned-politician Yadav was shifted from Beur jail to Bhagalpur on May 1, and was kept in T-cell, where another criminal-turned-politician, Anant Singh, also stayed.The MLA surrendered in the court on April 17 after a case was registered against him for demanding Rs 50 lakh extortion from a builder in Danapur. The surrender came after police raided 11 locations of Yadav on April 11, when Rs 10.5 lakh in cash, blank cheques worth Rs 77 lakh, four pen drives and many suspicious documents related to land were recovered.According to sources, he had been meeting his people inside the jail in Patna. Police got wind of this and, fearing some criminal incident, he was shifted to Bhagalpur.
