Meerut Murder: Headless body of 17-year-old girl found in canal; police suspect involvement of close family member | Meerut News

MEERUT: A headless body of a 17-year-old girl was found in a canal in Meerut’s Partapur area on Thursday.Police said the girl, a Class 12 student and resident of Daurala, had left for school on Wednesday morning but did not return. Her family filed a missing persons complaint that evening. A farmer spotted the body the next day and alerted police.The victim’s mother and brother identified her at the Partapur police station. Her father, a CRPF personnel, is currently posted in Chhattisgarh.SSP Meerut Dr Vipin Tada said a case under sections of murder and destruction of evidence of the BNS has been registered against an unidentified person. A forensic team collected samples from the spot.“Preliminary investigation suggests the involvement of a close family member. Three relatives have been detained for questioning. We hope to crack the case soon,” he added.
