SURAT: The Surat Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) arrested a 39-year-old man who had been absconding for 15 years after abducting his employer’s wife from Ghoddod Road in 2010. The accused, Bhargav, was earlier out on bail in a 2008 case for kidnapping his employer’s son when he committed the second crime.PCB police inspector RS Suvera said, “Based on human and technical intelligence, our team nabbed Bhargav near Dabholi Crossroads in Katargam. He was wanted in a kidnapping case registered by Khatodara police and had been on the run since 2010.”According to police, Bhargav, a native of Navalgarh town in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, worked as a tempo driver for Kailash Shankarlal Kumawat. There was an ongoing dispute between Kumawat and his wife, Sanjana. In 2008, Bhargav and Kumawat abducted Kumawat’s son, for which both were arrested and jailed for two years before being released on bail.In 2010, the duo abducted Sanjana and attempted to flee in a car. However, the vehicle met with an accident on Ghoddod Road, prompting Sanjana to raise an alarm. The two men abandoned the car and fled. Kumawat was arrested later, while Bhargav fled to Rajasthan and kept shifting between Sikar and Delhi to evade the police. The Khatodara police had booked him under BNS sections 365, 143, 452, 506(2), and 188 for abduction and criminal intimidation.Suvera added that Bhargav recently returned to Surat to meet his nephew, assuming that police had forgotten the case. He had been living with his wife and earning a livelihood as an astrologer and driver during his years on the run.
