Maharashtra shocker: Man hacked to death for urinating near chicken shop; victim attacked with cleaver used for chopping meat

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: A 35-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a cleaver attack after a dispute over urinating near a poultry shop in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar late Thursday night. The MIDC Cidco police have arrested five people, including the shopowner, in the case, reports Mohammed Akhef.Police identified the deceased as Nitin Sankpal (35) of Rajnagar in Mukundwadi. His brother Sachin (32) and their friend Datta Jadhav of Rajnagar were seriously injured.Those arrested included Mastan alias Nanna Qureshi (29) of Mukundwadi in Indira Nagar area, Sameer Khan (19) of Misarwadi, Babar Shaikh (32) of Mukundwadi stop, Sajid alias Sajju Qureshi (29) of Ambikanagar and Nasir Khan (20) of Qureshi chicken shop in Mukundwadi. Nitin, Sachin and his friend dined at a local eatery, after which Nitin stepped out to urinate behind a nearby poultry shop, police said, and added that Qureshi objected to this. “The argument escalated, drawing in Sachin and Datta, who rushed out on noticing the commotion. A fight ensued between the three men and Qureshi. In a fit of rage, Qureshi allegedly grabbed a cleaver used for chopping meat and attacked all the three men,” police said. Nitin died on the spot, while the other two were rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Police said they have invoked sections of scheduled caste, scheduled tribe (prevention of atrocities) act and BNS sections for murder, attempt to murder, unlawful assembly and rioting.“The accused were produced before the special (SC ST prevention of atrocities Act) court on Friday, following which the accused were granted bail due to technical reasons,” deputy commissioner of police Prashant Swami said.Taking cognizance of the murder incident, civic body’s anti-encroachment squad on Friday morning demolished 229 shops, tin shades, garages, washing centres, kutcha as well as pucca constructions that were being operated from the encroached piece of land situated along with the busy Jalna-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar road. The razed shops included the one owned by the accused poultry shopowner.The Satara area police station arrested the accused in a pending dacoity case. Later, DCP Swami said police would file an appeal against the bail order before the HC.
