Maharashtra reports 1 more Covid-linked death, toll rises to 28; Mumbai sees 22 new cases

Mumbai: On Sunday, Maharashtra reported one death linked to Covid-19, taking the total toll in this surge since May to 28. The deceased was a 47-year-old man from Wardha with liver cirrhosis who tested positive for the virus. All deaths so far are attributed to comorbidities. Maharashtra reported 40 new cases on Sunday, of which 22 were in Mumbai; 10 in Pune Municipal Corporation jurisdiction; two each in Pune district, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chandrapur; and one each in Nagpur and Wardha. Health officials said all diagnosed patients had mild symptoms. BMC health officials have been admitting a few patients every couple of days. Most admissions are among the elderly or those with comorbidities. Officials told TOI that most patients remain stable and recover.Since May, there have been five deaths linked to Covid-19 in Mumbai, all involving patients with comorbidities.
