Maharashtra offers free regularisation up to 500 sqft for pre-2011 residential encroachments; Mumbai kept out
Maharashtra government has approved the free regularization of residential encroachments on government land up to 500 sqft for families residing there since January 1, 2011, or earlier. This scheme aims to provide housing security to low-income families, excluding Mumbai and Mumbai Suburban districts. Occupancy fees will apply for larger areas, with strict scrutiny to exclude non-citizens and protect sensitive lands.
