Madhya Pradesh shocker: Nilgai crashes through car windshield, kills 4-year-old sitting in mother’s lap; parents injured | Bhopal News
BHOPAL: A four-year-old girl sitting on her mother’s lap on the front seat of a car was killed after a nilgai (blue bull) suddenly leapt onto the moving car on the National Highway bypass in Guna late on Wednesday. The animal broke through the car windshield and landed inside striking the kid and injuring her parents who are in hospital, but stable.
The incident occurred near the Do Khamba stretch of the bypass around 6.45 pm, when Sonu Jat, a resident of Guna, travelled with his family from Guna towards Magarda village to celebrate Makar Sankranti.According to preliminary information, two nilgai suddenly ran onto the road as the car approached the spot, and one of the animals jumped directly onto the moving vehicle. Police said the nilgai broke through the front windshield and entered the car. Its legs struck the head of the girl, identified as Tanya, who was sitting on her mother’s lap. The impact was so severe that the child died on the spot.The parents sustained injuries in the accident and were rushed to hospital for treatment. Their condition was stated to be stable. Following the incident, the nilgai was rescued by forest department and shifted for treatment.
