Consumed by revenge, he told his friends, “He hit my mother. I want him dead.”On May 22, the group lay in wait as Manoj returned from work. Sonu struck the first blow with the iron rod while the others joined in, beating Manoj until he collapsed. They fled, believing he was dead. Two other associates, Rehmat and Sachin, fled after witnessing the assault.“The Indiranagar police arrested the accused on July 20,” said deputy commissioner of police (East) Shashank Singh.Orange T-shirt led to culpritsNearly two months after the crime, police cracked the case by identifying a unique clue — an orange T-shirt embossed with the cartoon character Simpsons, which had a distinct cut mark on the character’s head. The same T-shirt, captured on CCTV during the crime, reappeared in a recent social media post by a youth. A special police team, monitoring social media, traced the suspect’s location.
