L'Oreal to pump 3.5k cr in 1st AI-powered global tech hub

HYDERABAD: Beauty and personal care giant L’Oreal will set up its first AI-powered global beauty tech innovation hub in Hyderabad. The company will invest 350 million euros (approx Rs 3,500 crore) by 2030. The hub, which will be a first-of-its-kind globally, will focus on developing the next generation of AI-powered beauty innovations.L’Oreal plans to leverage emerging technologies such as AI, GenAI, Agentic AI, and data, and expects to create around 2,000 advanced tech jobs. The French giant said its hub will play a key role in its integrated global AI and tech network along with tech hubs in France, USA, China, Singapore, Spain, Poland, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico.The announcement came after a high-level meeting of IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu and special chief secretary Sanjay Kumar with L’Oreal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos.Hieronimus said L’Oreal, which has been present in India over the past 31 years, is now harnessing the country’s tech and AI engineering expertise to power its hub. “We believe that the future of beauty lies at the intersection of science, technology and creativity, so Hyderabad will now sit at the heart of our artificial intelligence and digital ambition. This hub reinforces our commitment to India’s growth,” he said.
