KL Rahul could be on the move again. The Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly interested in bringing the experienced India batter into their squad ahead of IPL 2026. While the trade may not go through easily, the buzz has already started around Rahul’s next destination. Rahul has had quite the IPL journey. He began with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 for just INR 10 lakhs. After a brief stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and 2015, he returned to RCB in 2016 and played a key role in their run to the final. Unfortunately, he missed the 2017 season due to injury. It was with Punjab Kings, though, that Rahul truly came into his own. Bought for INR 11 crore in 2018, he was made captain and became one of the most consistent run-scorers in the league. After four seasons, he joined Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 for a whopping INR 17 crore and led them to the playoffs in his first year. However, he was ruled out of the 2023 season midway due to an injury he suffered during fielding in a match against RCB and 2024 was a disappointing campaign as LSG did not make the playoffs.

Ahead of IPL 2025, Rahul was bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 14 crore. Now, with reports suggesting that KKR are showing interest in acquiring him, his IPL career might be set for another chapter. KKR’s interest is reportedly linked to assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, who shares a strong working relationship with Rahul. The Kolkata franchise, which struggled last season under Ajinkya Rahane, might even consider handing him the captaincy if the move works out.
