Kenny Pickett was a contributor of the Super Bowl LIX winning team with the Philadelphia Eagles in February 2025. But his time with the Eagles was short-lived. The very next month? The Eagles traded him to the Cleveland Browns for a 2025 fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The Browns then had a quarterback battle for the starter role throughout the offseason and preseason. Once the preseason was over in August 2025, the Browns traded Pickett to the Las Vegas Raiders for a 2026 fifth-round pick. On August 26, NFL Insider Adam Schefter announced: “Trade: Browns are sending QB Kenny Pickett to the Las Vegas Raiders, per sources. Raiders needed another backup for Geno Smith with QB Aidan O’Connell fracturing his wrist in the preseason finale and being expected to miss 6-8 weeks.”

Reacting to the trade news, one fan said it was a great win for Pickett as he would get to learn from the oldest coach in the NFL, Pete Carroll, “What a W for Kenny. He gets out of Cleveland and gets to work with Pete Carroll.” Another analyzed the QB situation at the Raiders, “With this addition the Raiders have a have picked up a tier 4 QB and high-end backup to pair with Geno Smith who we project as a as a tier 3 QB and solid starter for the 2025 season.” A third fan said, “Browns really moved on quick… Raiders stacking up insurance behind Geno now 👀.”
