Jilted lover stalked girl, bought knife online before killing her | Nagpur News
NAGPUR: The 17-year-old jilted lover who is accused of killing Class 10 student Angel on Friday had planned it much in advance. He also purchased a sharp knife online for Rs 450 from an online e-commerce portal to carry out the killing.Just three months left to turn an adult, the accused is getting benefits of a minor as per law despite murdering his former friend in cold blood. Zonal DCP Rashmitha Rao stated that the police would write to the Juvenile Justice Board to treat the accused as an ‘adult’ as his traits show maturity, whether in planning or executing the cold-blooded murder.
He stalked the girl for several days at different places and even online. He kept a close watch on 16-year-old girl’s every online and offline move, preparing to strike at a convenient time and place. The accused and the victim also had a verbal spat over the phone. The cops have also obtained her conversation clip.Sources stated the juvenile accused, who is also a part-time caretaker at a hospital, had been threatening the girl for a couple of months during their conversations. The murder victim’s mother and elder sister had approached Ajni police station in May this year regarding the threats issued by the accused.An attempt by a few police personnel to strike a compromise proved costly and emboldened the accused who ended up killing Angel. Ajni police station staff summoned the teenager and warned him against further aggravation. The staff did not inform senior inspector Nitin Rajkumar or notify any other senior officers. There is no record of the mediation effort at Ajni police station.The issue came to light after the murder when the victim’s family began expressing frustration with the police for mishandling the matter. “We are conducting an inquiry too,” said DCP Rao. Senior officials, who are part of the investigation of the murder case, said the relatives of the accused jilted lover to be made co–accused for allegedly having helped him destroy his clothes, mobile phone and help him flee.Until the crime branch cops had managed to zero down upon the relatives, each one was helping the accused juvenile to shift from one location to another after committing the murder.
