NEW DELHI: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has announced the launch of a new postgraduate programme in robotics and artificial intelligence for the upcoming academic session 2026-27. The new course will be offered by the University School of Information, Communication, and Technology.The course has been launched to meet the rising need for professionals in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence. The intake of the course will be a total of 21 seats, and the admissions will be conducted till March 31, 2026, as is the case with all the courses of the university.Programme details and industry demandThe demand for robotics and artificial intelligence is rising in India, as mentioned by Prof. Pushpender Bharti of the USICT of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The demand for the field is rising as the scope of the field is rising in India. The need for professionals like AI engineers, data scientists, and robotics engineers is still on the rise, as mentioned by Prof. Pushpender Bharti. There will be job opportunities in the field in established organisations as well as newly formed organisations. In addition, the field is also going to contribute significantly to the development of the economy.Eligibility criteria outlinedIn order to be eligible to apply for the program, the student should secure a minimum of 60 percent marks in the relevant examinations. The eligible candidates to apply for the program are students from the relevant fields like computer science, information technology, electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, etc.Candidates with postgraduate degrees in the relevant fields like IT, electronics, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, operation research, applied physics, etc.Admission process and selectionAdmission to the program will be made on the basis of merit prepared from the valid GATE scores of the relevant disciplines for the academic session 2026-27. In the event of unfilled seats after the merit list of the GATE qualified candidates is considered, admissions will be made to the candidates who have qualified through the Common Entrance Test conducted by the university.In the event of unfilled seats after the merit list of the CET qualified candidates is considered, the unfilled seats will be filled from the merit list of the CUET qualified candidates.
