Infiltration bid foiled, 2 intruders shot dead in Bandipora | Srinagar News

SRINAGAR: Alert security forces thwarted an infiltration bid and gunned down two suspected terrorists along the Line of Control in Gurez sector in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district early Thursday.Based on intelligence inputs from J&K Police regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint team of the Army and J&K Police launched an operation in Gurez sector, Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps stated in an X post.On spotting suspicious movement, the troops warned the intruders, who opened indiscriminate fire on the forces. “Troops responded with effective fire, neutralising two terrorists. Operation is in progress,” the post stated.After the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, security forces have gunned down 16 terrorists in Kashmir this year, including three top Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives linked to the Pahalgam attack who were killed in Srinagar on July 28.In an earlier X post, Chinar Corps stated that a soldier had died in the line of duty in J&K’s Kupwara district. “Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of braveheart Havildar Ikbal Ali… His courage and dedication will forever inspire us,” the post said. “We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and are committed to their well-being,” it added.
