India in space: Launch of Axiom-4 mission to International Space Station delayed; Isro gives update
NEW DELHI: The launch of Axiom-4 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) has been postponed by a day to June 11, the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) announced on Monday.According to the Indian space agency, adverse weather resulted in the launch of the Isro-Nasa joint mission being pushed behind by one day.“Due to weather conditions, the launch of Axiom-4 mission for sending Indian Gaganyatri to International Space Station is postponed from 10th June to 11th June. The targeted time of launch is 5:30 pm IST on 11th June,” an Isro statement quoted its chairperson, Dr V Narayanan, as saying.Among crew members of Axiom-4 is Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force (IAF), who would be the second Indian in space, and the first from the country at the ISS. In 1984, Rakesh Sharma, also from the IAF, went to space under a joint programme between the IAF and Russia’s Interkosmos.(Developing story. Please check again for updates)
