India vs England Live Score, 3rd Test Day 1: England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the third Test, held at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground on Thursday. Our senior cricket reporter Sahil Malhotra is in England covering the five-match Test series. Click here to follow the action through Sahil’s eyes and words.

India enter the contest with a solid track record at Lord’s in recent years, having secured victories in two of their last three matches at the venue during the 2014, 2018, and 2021 tours.

The visitors come into this Test on the back of a commanding win in the second Test at Edgbaston. Despite being without Jasprit Bumrah, India dominated with both bat and ball. Captain Shubman Gill delivered a pair of exceptional innings, scoring 269 and 161, while Mohammed Siraj picked up six wickets and Akash Deep bagged a ten-wicket match haul.

Lord’s has hosted 19 Tests between India and England so far. England have the upper hand with 12 wins, while India have claimed victory on three occasions.

After calling correctly at the toss, Stokes said, “We are going to have a bat. Surface, there is something here early on, generally. It is a good, well-fought series, and we are up for this game. The body is good. Quick turnaround, we are fresh and ready to go. Everyone likes playing at Lord’s, and you have to enjoy it. Just one change.”

Indian captain Shubman Gill said at the toss, “I was confused what to do till this morning. I would have bowled first. There would be something for the bowlers in the first session. Everyone chipped in, and that’s what the discussion was about. The bowlers are feeling confident, wasn’t easy to pick 20 wickets on that wicket. I am feeling great, as a batter, you expect to be in the middle of the situation and batting. We have one change – Bumrah for Prasidh.”
