HYDERABAD: CCTV footage of a dramatic crash involving a speeding Ferrari in Jubilee Hills surfaced on Wednesday, shedding light on the sequence of events that left five people injured. The visuals show the luxury sports car hurtling down Road No. 45 on Sunday morning before swerving out of control, crossing into the opposite lane and crashing into multiple vehicles. The impact triggered panic among motorists and passersby.

Police said the Ferrari, driven by Kranthi Reddy (30), a city-based businessman, allegedly suffered a mechanical failure. Preliminary findings indicate possible brake malfunction and steering issues. According to investigators, Reddy first lost control of the vehicle and rammed into an electric pole. The car then veered across the road, colliding head-on with vehicles approaching from the opposite direction. Several vehicles, including two cars and three two-wheelers, were damaged in the chain collision. Five people sustained injuries in the crash. Reddy and his wife, who were travelling in the Ferrari en route to a wedding, were among the injured. Three occupants of another car — identified as Upasana Saxena, Priya Saxena and Anil Saxena — suffered minor injuries and were shifted to a nearby private hospital. Their condition is reported to be stable. Jubilee Hills police registered a case against Reddy under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving and endangering human life. He was taken into custody. Inspector Srinivasulu Reddy said the investigation is examining both driving conditions and the suspected mechanical defects. “The vehicle was moving at high speed in moderate traffic. CCTV footage and forensic inspection will help determine the exact cause,” he said. The accident caused significant traffic congestion in the upscale neighbourhood, with movement disrupted for over an hour. Police imposed diversions until the damaged vehicles and debris were cleared. The car involved was identified as a Ferrari California T, registered in November 2017.
