Honeymoon murder case: Raja’s brother says Sonam and Raj trying to mislead probe, seeks narco test of duo | India News

NEW DELHI: The elder brother of Raja Raghuvanshi, the 29-year-old Indore-based transport businessman who was brutally murdered while on his honeymoon in Meghalaya, has called for a narco analysis test on Raja’s wife and her alleged lover to reveal the “full truth” behind the shocking crime.Sachin Raghuvanshi on Friday demanded authorities to conduct the test on Raja’s 25-year-old wife, Sonam, and her alleged lover, 20-year-old Raj Kushwaha. Both are prime accused in the murder and currently in Meghalaya Police custody, along with three others. The state police have set up a special investigation team (SIT) to dig deeper into the case, which has drawn nationwide attention for its chilling nature and suspected conspiracy.“We want the Meghalaya police to conduct a narco test on Sonam and Kushwaha so that the full truth behind my brother’s murder comes out,” Sachin told PTI.He also said that the two were trying to mislead the investigation by blaming each other “It appears Sonam and Kushwaha are colluding to misdirect the probe,” he said, further insisting that the duo could not have executed the murder conspiracy on their own.“I believe more people are involved in the conspiracy, but they are still out of police reach. Their names may surface through narco analysis.”Sachin also alleged that Sonam’s mother may have known about her daughter’s relationship with Kushwaha before the wedding.Raja married Sonam on May 11. Just days later, the couple travelled to Sohra (Cherrapunjee) in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district for their honeymoon. They were reported missing on May 23. Raja’s body was recovered on June 2 from a gorge near Weisawdong Falls. Sonam resurfaced on June 9 in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh—some 1,200 km away—where she surrendered to police.East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem earlier confirmed that the murder was planned in Indore before the wedding. “The conspiracy to eliminate Raja Raghuvanshi was hatched in Indore, shortly before his wedding with Sonam on May 11, and the mastermind is Raj Kushwaha while the woman had agreed to the plot,” he said.Apart from Sonam and Kushwaha, police have arrested three more accused: Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi. The trio are childhood friends of Kushwaha, with one being his cousin. Police said they were not typical contract killers but had carried out the murder as a “favour” for their friend.Kushwaha had given them Rs 50,000 to cover travel and other expenses and the planning began in February and included ideas on how Sonam would vanish after the murder, he added.Sachin also urged that the case should be tried in a fast track court and the culprits should be given a “double life imprisonment.”What is a narco test?During a narco test or a truth serum test, sodium pentothal, a drug, is injected into the subject’s body, which takes him to a hypnotic state. This state neutralises his imagination, leading him to reveal true information about any incident.
