‘Historic trade deals’: Trump claims foreign nations paying ‘trillions of dollars’ to US Treasury — lists UK, China, EU, Japan

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed that tariff and new trade deals have brought “trillions of dollars” into the US economy, asserting that foreign nations are now paying amounts “no one has seen ever before.Speaking at a Cabinet meeting at the White House, on Tuesday, Trump said, “We have secured market access for the American agricultural exports all over the world, our secretary has done a great job, thank you sir. We have secured historic trade deals with the United Kingdom, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, South Korea and the European Union.”Trump added that these agreements, along with tariff enforcement, are significantly boosting the US treasury. “Foreign nations are now paying hundreds of billions of dollars straight into our treasury, no’s that nobody has seen ever before… We are receiving trillions of dollars, far beyond billions,” he said. The remarks come amid his administration’s ongoing efforts to position tariff revenue and trade rebalancing as central achievements, especially in key sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing. While trade experts have previously noted that tariffs are typically paid by importers (often US businesses), Trump has consistently maintained that his strategy has pressured trading partners into renegotiating deals and expanding US export access. No additional figures were immediately shared to support the “trillions” claim.
