NEW DELHI: A government school teacher in Maharashtra’s Jalna district is facing disciplinary action after a video showing him sleeping in a classroom went viral on Friday, news agency PTI reported. The incident occurred at a Marathi medium zilla parishad school in Gadegavan village, located in Jafrabad tehsil. The school caters to students from Class I to V. In the widely shared video, teacher VK Munde is seen reclining with his leg resting on a desk, while around 15 to 17 students sit quietly nearby. When the person filming asks one of the children how long the teacher had been asleep, the child responds, “half an hour.” Confirming the teacher’s identity, Satish Shinde, block education officer, said: “Strict action will be taken against the teacher as per departmental rules.” He added that a report on the matter would be submitted to the district education officer.
