‘Have failed in everything’: Engineer jumps to death from Pune office building; leaves heartbreaking note

PUNE: A mechanical engineer (23), who worked with a prominent technology solutions company in Hinjewadi, jumped to his death from the seventh floor of his office building around 10.15am on Monday.Hinjewadi police’s senior inspector Balaji Pandhare told TOI, “A handwritten note was recovered from the body. It is not addressed to any particular individual and reads, ‘I would have been a better son. You deserve a better son. I have failed in everything. Please do not waste your time on this. Take care’.” The youth was from Nashik. A probe revealed that he was in a meeting on Monday morning. “He complained of a chest pain, stepped out of the room and jumped from the seventh floor. He was taken to a nearby hospital and the doctors pronounced him dead.”The company has issued a statement: “We are saddened by the loss of our colleague and our thoughts are with his family, friends and loved ones. As a group, we offer our support to his family and co-workers. The well-being and safety of our employees remain our highest priority. We are working with the authorities as they investigate the circumstances of this incident.” Pandhare said the victim had completed his mechanical engineering from Pune. “He was working with the company in Hinjewadi for the last one year,” he added.
