According to a Washington Post report, a warrant issued in Miami-Dade County has accused the 36-year-old of attempted murder with a firearm following a violent altercation outside a celebrity boxing event in Little Haiti this past May.

According to the warrant, officers responded to a call just before midnight on May 16 reporting gunfire outside the venue. An off-duty officer, who had been providing security, witnessed a scuffle involving Brown and another man. Patrons in the parking lot pointed to Brown as the shooter, though a pat-down revealed no weapon on him at the time. However, two spent shell casings and an empty holster were reportedly recovered at the scene.Brown, who resides in Fort Lauderdale, was detained by police that night but released hours later. On social media, he claimed he had been “jumped” by individuals attempting to rob him of his jewelry. That narrative, however, appears to clash with video evidence reviewed by Miami detectives.Surveillance footage obtained in the investigation allegedly shows Brown initiating a physical altercation, then grabbing a firearm from a security officer and chasing the man he had punched. Cellphone videos reportedly captured two gunshots as Brown approached the individual. The man later told investigators that Brown “began to run toward him with a firearm” and fired twice, possibly grazing his neck. He was treated at Aventura Hospital for injuries and identified Brown in the surveillance clips, noting he had known him since 2022.This charge adds to a long and troubling history of off-field issues for Brown, whose football career began with immense promise. A sixth-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010, Brown earned All-Pro honors from 2014 to 2017 and became one of the most productive receivers of the decade.
