PM Modi to visit UK, Maldives from July 23–26; Malé outreach, bilateral relations among agenda
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-nation visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives from July 23 to 26, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said on Sunday. This will be his fourth visit to the UK and first since 2018. He will meet British PM Keir Starmer to discuss trade, defence, climate, and innovation. Govt ready to discuss Operation Sindoor in Monsoon session, says Kiren Rijiju
Parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said the government is prepared to discuss Operation Sindoor and other key issues during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, provided the debate follows the rules and traditions of the House. “We are ready for discussions with an open heart… but as per rules and tradition,” he said after an all-party meeting. 2 Indians killed, 1 abducted in Niger terror attack; Omar Abdullah seeks MEA intervention
Two Indian nationals were killed and one, Ranjeet Singh from J&K’s Ramban district, was abducted in a terror attack in Niger’s Dosso region last Tuesday. Armed assailants ambushed a Nigerien army unit guarding an electrical line project. Reacting to the incident, Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah urged EAM S Jaishankar to intervene urgently to ensure Singh’s safe return. Read full story
Putin open to Ukraine peace talks, says committed to achieve ‘main goal’
Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to peace talks with Ukraine, but Moscow remains firm on pursuing its core objectives, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday, according to state media. “President Putin has consistently expressed his intent to reach a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict at the earliest.
