Elon Musk still holds firm as the world’s richest person, but there’s been a slight shake-up right below him. The list of the world’s richest people has been updated and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has overtaken Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to claim the spot of the second-richest individual globally. According to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zuckerberg’s net worth surged to $225 billion, edging out Bezos’ $223 billion. Interestingly, 10 of the top 15 billionaires are tech executives, including founders and CEOs. Notably absent from the list, however, are Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

Mark Zuckerberg gains the most while many others lose

While several of the world’s wealthiest tech titans have seen their fortunes dwindle since the start of 2025, Meta CEO stands out as a significant gainer, adding a remarkable $17.3 billion to his net worth this year. Zuckerberg’s financial ascent is primarily attributed to his substantial personal stake in Meta. He holds approximately 13% of the company’s stock, which has seen an almost 9% increase year-to-date. This surge contrasts sharply with losses experienced by his peers in the top four, including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Oracle founder Larry Ellison. Both former Microsoft CEOs, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, have also gained. Nvidia Jensen Huang is also another tech CEO who has gained.Meanwhile, Elon Musk, despite a recent bump, has faced a challenging period for his wealth this year. He maintains his position as the world’s richest individual with a net worth of $370 billion despite losing nearly $7 billion and registering a massive $62.2 billion year-to-date change.
