Delhi Girl Murder: 15 year old girl shot dead in market; boyfriend suspect, probe on | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: A 15-year-old girl was shot allegedly by her 20-year-old boyfriend in a market in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Sunday night. The youth is absconding. According to police, the girl was shot around 8.10pm in front of a clinic near D block, causing panic in the busy commercial area.
“Our initial inquiry says the girl had stepped out with a friend to have snacks at the D-E block market. While they were walking near a clinic, the man allegedly approached them with another friend and opened fire on her at close range,” a senior officer said. Her friend was unharmed. The accused fired four rounds, said police. The girl, who bled profusely, was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Her body has been preserved for post-mortem.Initial investigations indicate that the youth was in a relationship with the victim. The motive, however, remains unclear, said investigators. “We are examining personal angles and possible disputes that may have led to the attack. The accused has been identified,” the officer said.A case of murder has been registered and multiple teams have been deployed to trace the accused. Several eyewitnesses are being questioned, said police. CCTV footage from nearby shops and the clinic is also being collected to piece together the sequence of events. Investigators said the friend who accompanied the girl was being treated as a key witness in the case.The victim’s family lives in a jhuggi in Jahangirpuri, not far from the site of the attack. Her mother works as a househelp while her father stays in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad. In June, a 29-year-old woman was assaulted and strangled to death inside a hotel room in central Delhi’s Paharganj, allegedly by her 31-year-old boyfriend who stayed with her body during the night.
