Delhi classroom construction scam: Former deputy CM Manish Sisodia appears before ACB, questioned for over 3 hours

NEW DELHI: Senior AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia appeared before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with the alleged Delhi classroom construction scam.In a statement, the Joint Commissioner of Police, ACB, said, “Today, June 20 at 11.00 am, Manish Sisodia appeared before the ACB. The case pertains to irregularities and a large-scale scam involving the construction of classrooms and school buildings in Delhi government schools at highly inflated costs.”Sisodia was questioned in the presence of an independent witness, and his responses related to the case were recorded. After the questioning ended, he left the ACB office at 2.30 pm. The investigation is still ongoing, said the Joint CP of ACB.The probe is being conducted by the ACB following a complaint filed by BJP functionaries Harish Khurana, Kapil Mishra and Neelkanth Bakshi in July 2019. The complaint alleged a scam of over ₹2,000 crore in the construction of 12,748 classrooms at highly inflated costs.Sisodia had skipped the earlier summons on June 10 due to prior commitments. He had submitted a reply to the branch and requested a new date to appear.
