‘Chilling 5-phase plan’: How Al-Falah university doctors built nationwide plot to 'avenge' Babri demolition

LUCKNOW: Investigators probing the Delhi blast have come across a chilling plot of the perpetrators to execute coordinated explosions in six cities on Dec 6, the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, to “avenge” the 1992 event.According to intelligence sources, the revelation came during the interrogation of Dr Shaheen Shahid, her brother Dr Parvez Sayeed Ansari, and Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie, who were among those arrested in connection with the Nov 10 blast. The three, a part of Jaish-e-Mohammad-linked terror module, were allegedly raising funds and coordinating logistics for the attacks, sources said.Dr Shaheen’s questioning reportedly yielded crucial inputs about the group’s financial network and operational hierarchy. Other arrested suspects — Dr Adeel, Dr Muzammil, Molvi Irfan Ahmad, Arif Nisar Dar, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, Maqsood Ahmad, and Zameer Ahmad Ahanger — are being interrogated to extract more details about the operations.

The group was working on five-phase plan: Investigators

In all, nine people have been arrested from UP, Haryana & J&K while three have been detained from UP — Dr Parvez from Lucknow, Dr Arif Mir from Kanpur and Dr Farooq Ahmad Dar from Hapur.Preliminary findings suggest the group drew a five-phase plan. The Five-Phase Plan

  • The first phase involved the formation of the module linked to JeM and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
  • The second focused on procuring raw materials and ammunition from Nuh and Gurugram (Haryana) to assemble improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
  • The third covered manufacturing chemical-based IEDs and conducting reconnaissance of potential targets.
  • The fourth involved the distribution of assembled bombs among module members.
  • The fifth phase was to execute synchronised explosions across selected locations.

Officials said the initial plan was to strike in Aug 2025, but due to logistical delays, the date was shifted to Dec 6. Investigators are also examining whether the module planned a parallel operation in Ayodhya on Nov 25 during the Prime Minister’s visit for the hoisting of the temple ‘dhwaj’.While the names of the six cities have not been revealed, police forces in these regions have been alerted to heighten security, frisking, and area checks. A team of the UP Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) is also set to interrogate the accused further on these lines, officials confirmed.
