CBI quizzes TVK chief for second time in stampede case | India News
NEW DELHI: TVK chief Vijay was questioned for about seven hours by CBI on Monday in connection with investigation into the Karur stampede case. This is the second time Vijay has been questioned by the agency.Sources said the actor-politician was asked to submit a few documents like his application seeking permission for the rally from police and whether necessary guidelines were followed. Vijay appeared before a DySP-rank officer at the CBI headquarters in Delhi. He told the investigating officer he had followed all police-mandated guidelines during the rally. He was asked why he had continued his address despite chaos having ensued at the rally. Vijay is learnt to have flagged inadequate deployment and absence of crowd-control measures.The actor had earlier appeared before the agency on Jan 12 and was questioned for over six hours at the CBI’s Delhi office. Vijay told CBI last time police had failed to remove bottlenecks on roads to the venue. He also said he had immediately left the venue to prevent the situation from worsening. The stampede on Sept 27 last year had killed 41 people. tnn
